NCAA Football 2002 is the 9th installment of the NCAA Football Series, published by EA Sports solely for the PlayStation 2. It was released on July 24th, 2001.

The Cover[]

The cover of NCAA Football 2002 features Florida State quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke. He was the oldest college football player to ever have been featured on the cover, as he did not enroll at FSU until he was 25 years old (after spending 6 years in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league baseball system). He was 27 years old when he won the Heisman, and turned 28 exactly a week after the game's release.

Gameplay[]

This was the first version of the series created for the newest video game console at the time, PlayStation 2. Ironically, NCAA Football 2002 lacked many features (such as Custom League, Custom Tournament, and Create-a-school) that were present in the previous edition that was created for PlayStation (NCAA Football 2001).

However, the game did feature a new "Campus Cards" rewards system, which allowed players to unlock special features in the game such as historical teams or special stadiums.
